On September 28, 20xx, a piece of news carried amiddle-school student’s letter written before his suicide. In his letter, the15-year-old boy earnestly begged his father to give up his bad behavior andrenew a cordial relationship with his mother. After reading the letter, myheart bled bitterly. Though suffering greatly from his troubled family, the boyhad a deep love for his young life, his lovely classmates and his respectableteachers. But to bring back his father’s moral and a happy family, he ended hislife by swallowing pesticide.

China debates 'family values'
Most Chinese agree the family is undergoing tremendous change. But views on what that means run the gamut. Some feel society is headed for serious disorder due to a loss of values like sacrifice, family loyalty, and fidelity. Others see a better China emerging after a period of shakeout, with greater choice and maturity.
At one level, the fight is between traditionalists and progressives. Many of the former feel that an avaricious new money culture will corrupt China and send it into uncharted waters. They see women becoming sex objects and couples devaluing each other. They see the years from 1950 to 1980 as a stable period of happiness, when moral values were predominant and families found meaning in serving the state.
"The opening up of the 1980s is only now showing itself in the way wives and husbands are chosen," says Xia Xueluan, a professor at Beijing University. "Now, when a girl meets a boy the first question is, 'Do you have a house? Do you have a car?' This causes great strains in marriages, and on husbands, to produce income. I'm worried."
Progressives feel that few Chinese want to lose recent gains like choice. Both sexes are more liberated, they feel. In the past, marriage was limited by family background. Divorce was not allowed, often not even in abusive, dead-end situations.
"In the past, there was no money and people were forced to rely on others. The choice for a better life was simple: struggle for food and shelter," says Dong Zhiying with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. "We all lived together and ate at the same table; we had 'salty or sweet' depending on what was available. Now you can order your own dishes."
Many in China do feel problems with the money culture are underestimated, but don't want a return to state dictates in their private lives. They feel that an obsession with grades, colleges, and jobs has led parents to ignore a traditional emphasis on good behavior, modesty, and politeness. They are troubled by studies showing rising levels of early teen sex and recent cases of teens involved in homicides. They want a form of new moral education that teaches a humane social contract.

In the first place, house husband may be a shame title for men, but when it comes to money, there is no room for reputation. As society develops, the life standard are rising, and everything for living is much expensive than before, if couples want to guarantee their life quality, then they should let the one who earn better to work, although the one is female.
首先，家庭主男對(duì)男性來(lái)說(shuō)可能是一個(gè)可恥的稱呼，但當(dāng)談到錢的時(shí)候，名聲就站不住腳了。隨著社會(huì)的發(fā)展，生活水平的提高，生活中的一切東西都比以前昂貴了，如果一對(duì)夫婦要保證他們的生活質(zhì)量，那么他們應(yīng)該讓工資更高的人去工作，就算那個(gè)是女性也一樣。
In the second place, it’s fine for women to support family as long as they earn better than men. In the past, women always were treated very badly, and they got no rights to be educated, to work. In some countries, they can’t even show their face to others. A traditional female role is to stay at home, taking care of children and do all of the housework. But now, lots of women have a good job, so that they totally have the ability to be the economic backbone. Therefore, in order to take good care of family, men are likely to stay at home to do housework. I don’t think it’s a shame for men, because no matter what you do, as long as you do it well, you are successful.
第二，只要女性能比男性掙得更多，讓她們來(lái)支撐家庭也是可以的。在過去，女性一直被惡劣對(duì)待，他們也沒有受教育，工作的權(quán)利。在一些國(guó)家，她們甚至不能給別人看她們的.臉。傳統(tǒng)的女性角色是呆在家里，照顧孩子，做所有的家務(wù)。但是現(xiàn)在，許多女性都有一份好的工作，他們完全有能力成為家里的經(jīng)濟(jì)支柱。因此，為了照顧家庭，男性更有可能呆在家里做家務(wù)。我不認(rèn)為這是男人的恥辱，因?yàn)闊o(wú)論你做什么，只要你做得好，你就是成功的。
To sum up, people should change their opinion about core role of a family. It’s acceptable for women to support the family, and there is no shame for men to do the housework. As long as you remember life quality comes first.
綜上所述，人們應(yīng)該改變關(guān)于在家庭中誰(shuí)起核心作用的觀點(diǎn)。女性養(yǎng)家是可接受的，所以男性做家務(wù)也是不用感到羞恥的。只要記住生活質(zhì)量才是最重要的。
