　　Happiness can be described as a positive(實(shí)在的事物, 確定的) mood and a pleasant state of mind.A good education and income are usually considered necessary for happiness. But the rich are not sure to be happier than the middle-income group or even those with very low incomes.People with a college education are somewhat(稍微) happier than those who did not graduate from high school;

　　It is believed that this mainly because they have more opportunities to control their lives. Yet people without a college education may be less happy than those with a college education.Moreover,having good health can be very important to people because they can feel happy and have energy to do what they would like to do.

　　Nevertheless(然而),poor health does not rule out(排除) happiness except for the dying or those in great pain.It should be noted that people quickly get used to what they have, nd they are happier when they feel they are increasing their level no matter how little it has been improved.

　　The best formula(客套話) for happiness is to be able to develop the ability to tolerate(寬恕) frustration(挫敗), to have a personal involvement(纏繞) and commitment(承諾),and to develop self-confidence and self-esteem(尊重).

　　這話還得從三年前說起，聽說我們這地方的小學(xué)英語開始納入考試了，學(xué)校也開始著急了，怎么辦，這各年級的英語老師在哪里？領(lǐng)導(dǎo)們把所有的老師掃描了一番，思來想去，隆重啟用了我們四個(gè)年輕的`語文老師兼任！

　　唉，人在屋檐下不得不低頭啊，誰叫我還得在人家鍋里抓飯吃呢，硬著頭皮上吧。于是就有了最開始的“Good morning boys and girls！”說實(shí)話，現(xiàn)在小學(xué)的英語教材比我讀中學(xué)時(shí)還難，好多單詞我都不認(rèn)識。這可害苦了我。每次上新課之前，都得花好長時(shí)間查字典，聽錄音，不然來到課堂上休想張嘴。

　　搞笑的是有一次學(xué)校派我們幾個(gè)外出聽人家的優(yōu)質(zhì)課，我老早就跑去了，生怕找不到好位置。最后選了一個(gè)最佳——第一排正中！然而一節(jié)課下來，著實(shí)惱火，除了黑板上板書的單詞我知道外，老師的課堂口語我一句都聽不懂！真是笑話呀，英語老師聽不懂英語課！

　　當(dāng)然，這幾年不是一直都當(dāng)南郭先生的。我一邊學(xué)，一邊教，好歹還是學(xué)到了一點(diǎn)，至少后來出去聽課還是能聽懂了。我的要求不高，只希望我的學(xué)生每一節(jié)課能感受快樂。

But that can also be a problem. Some of the courses may not be very suitable for Chinese students because of cultural differences and may cause chaos on Chinese campus. In my opinion, online open course is useful and we should make use of it to broaden our horizons. But we should also remember to have our own thinking and not be brainwashed by improper ideas.

　　I think that free time is a precious thing for most of us. When we’re working hard, it’s nice to imagine what we’ll do when the weekend comes. We juggle one idea with another, trying to decide what best suits our budget and the amount of time we have. After all, anticipating free time is part of the pleasure.

　　It’s good to plan what we’re going to do with our free time. That way we won’t waste any of it trying to decide. It’s so easy to just sit around and think about this or that activity. Before we know it, half the day is gone. If we decide ahead of time, We can get started in plenty of time, and we can get the most benefit out of the time we have. For instance, if we’re going on a picnic, we can get all our supplies ready to go. Or if we’re going to a movie, we can find out the time and how long it’ll take us to get there. Also, if we plan what we’re going to do with our free time, we can invite others to join us. If we wait until the last minute, our friends may have other plans.

　　On the other hand, it’s also fun sometimes to do things without a plan. We can just leave the house and walk around and see what catches our attention. Often, this is how we discover places we never knew existed. We might end up doing something we never thought we’d try. We might just happen to find ourselves outside a new bookstore or a bowling alley and go in on a whim, because we have some free time.

　　It’s nice if we can have the best of both worlds. We can plan our free time activities for one day of the weekend, and let the other day plan itself. This way our free time also gives us the enjoyment of having it both ways.

　　Moreover,Sam is extremely helpful.Whenever I need something or just someone to talk to,Sam is always there.He lends me money without so much as mentioning when I am supposed to return it(but of course I always return the money).Besides,he is a great listener.I feel as if I could pour out my whole heart to him.While offering a sympathetic ear,he also makes constructive suggestions.

　　I am grateful for our friendship.Without Sam,my university would have been a lot more chaotic and confusing.
