　　the game was scheduled to start at start at eight o’clock on friday night. long before that, people began to arrive at the gymnasium.

　　by seven-thirty the seats were almost filled. the school band was there; they wore yellow and black uniforms. they started to play at about a quarter to eight. everybody stood up, and the people sang. the game was about to start. two teams ran out to the floor. the referee blew his whistle, and the game started. a basketball game is divided into two halves, and each half is divided into two quarters. there is a rest period between the halves. during the first five minutes of the second half, the score was tied. from then on, the game was very exciting. first one team made a basket, then the other. the people cheered, and everybody was wondering which team was going to win.

　　the ball hit the rim of the basket and seemed to hang there for a moment, and then it fell through the basket. the whistle blew and the game was over. home team won, 70 to 68.

　　報(bào)上名后我才知道，全市有二千多人參加這次比賽，選拔賽后只有500個(gè)晉級(jí)名額，一聽到這個(gè)消息，我馬上像泄了氣的皮球，沒有信心了。那天晚上，輪到我上場(chǎng)了，我從容地走上臺(tái)，勉強(qiáng)把稿子背了一遍，下臺(tái)后才發(fā)現(xiàn)嘴里竟還含著口香糖呢！沒想到公布成績(jī)時(shí)我竟然也晉級(jí)了！真讓我又驚訝又高興！

　　復(fù)賽時(shí)，我的分?jǐn)?shù)不是很高，但還是順利晉級(jí)。這下我忽然擔(dān)心起來，生怕決賽時(shí)被刷下來了�；丶液�，我又把稿子重新修改了一遍，把每個(gè)單詞、每個(gè)句子都反復(fù)朗讀，做到精確無誤，還用心設(shè)計(jì)了每一個(gè)動(dòng)作。我信心滿滿地走上臺(tái)，一開口，評(píng)委的臉上就露出了笑容，我流暢地做著自我介紹、演講、才藝展示。我們五個(gè)人都講完了，評(píng)委進(jìn)行了認(rèn)真的.點(diǎn)評(píng)，最后公布成績(jī)——— 我取得了我們組的最高分！這一次又順利晉級(jí)了！我高興得心花怒放，合不攏嘴。媽媽也高興地抱著我親了又親。
