報(bào)上名后我才知道，全市有二千多人參加這次比賽，選拔賽后只有500個(gè)晉級名額，一聽到這個(gè)消息，我馬上像泄了氣的皮球，沒有信心了。那天晚上，輪到我上場了，我從容地走上臺，勉強(qiáng)把稿子背了一遍，下臺后才發(fā)現(xiàn)嘴里竟還含著口香糖呢！沒想到公布成績時(shí)我竟然也晉級了！真讓我又驚訝又高興！

比賽開始。首先，是兩位主持人一番簡短的介紹，然后選手開始挨個(gè)兒上臺。每個(gè)人都有一份課件，上面是演講內(nèi)容，選手要流暢地背出稿子，才能得高分。他們一口流利的英語，聽得我云里霧里。我不由得感嘆道，這就是差距啊！不過根據(jù)課件上的英文，我還是認(rèn)出了一些單詞。
選手的情況也不同：有的.一口英語說得頭頭是道，聽得人一愣一愣的；有的上了臺過于緊張，忘了詞，又下來整理整理思緒再上臺；也有的背得不錯(cuò)，卻出了一點(diǎn)小插曲的……可謂是千姿百態(tài)。
